Position Summary

The Executive Director of the Tabor Opera House will provide effective and innovative leadership to achieve the mission of the Tabor Opera House Preservation Foundation. Primary Responsibility falls on the ED to lead the board, contractors, staff, and volunteers through a multi-year building rehabilitation plan and capital campaign.  The ED is the primary organizer of fundraising as well as facilitation of all administration for the organization. The position works closely with the Board of Directors and is responsible for ensuring the growth and vitality of the Foundation by overseeing staff management,  administration, programs, marketing, community outreach and building operations/rehabilitation. The successful candidate must be an energetic and enthusiastic leader who will ensure the historic integrity of the opera house through strategic building stewardship and artifact conservation/interpretation. The Executive Director will strive to provide the Tabor Opera House’s diverse audiences with inclusive artistic programming and tour experiences, through strategic partnerships,  while cultivating strong relationships with local, state, national and international partners

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Administration

  • Lead the non-profit organization in meeting the Foundation’s mission and vision to revitalize the opera house as a community center of arts, culture and entertainment.
  • Serve as the public face of the Foundation and opera house by working directly, and in partnership, with our city and county partners, community groups, artists/musicians, agents, promoters and arts and culture organizations.
  • Collaborate with the Foundation Board of Directors to carry out the decisions of the board, and strategize/implement short and long-term organizational goals as identified in the 2024-2026 strategic plan.
  • Maintain regular collaboration and communication with the City of Leadville staff and elected officials to satisfy the public-private partnership, including preparing and presenting regular reports and budget requests to the Leadville City Council.
  • Manage staff, paid consultants/contractors and volunteers – maintain compliance with human resource policies and ensure development of internal staff.

Fundraising And Finance

  • Lead fundraising for annual operations, programming and the multi-phased building rehabilitation through individual giving, grants, municipal and governmental budget allocations, sponsorships and tax incentives.
  • Manage organizational finances per the annual budget, including earned income, and contribute to development of annual budgets.
  • Coordinate the planning and implementation of a capital campaign.
  • Implement and manage a donor management system. 
  • Manage grant tracking and reporting.

Programming

  • Coordinate opera house programming, including live performances, tours, historic stage scenery workshops, venue rentals and the Tabor Youth Collective in collaboration with resident company, contractors, consultants, and staff
  • Coordinate marketing of all seasonal events and performances.
  • Provide a safe workplace for staff, guests, contracted personnel and artists.

 Community Outreach And Engagement

  • Coordinate marketing, public relations and social media outreach for effective marketing of the TOH through the variation of programming and fundraising efforts each season.
  • Build and cultivate strong relationships and regular communication with the Leadville community and other partners/stakeholders.
  • Engage all demographics of the Leadville and Lake County communities

Building Rehabilitation 

  • Contribute to project phasing decisions, required city bidding processes, project management, and coordination of construction activities with programming and other onsite events/activities.
  • Maintain regular communication with construction project manager and building manager to keep apprised of progress and priorities.
  • Provide decision-making oversight as determined by the Board of Directors.

Compensation Type: Salary
Compensation Range: $80,000-$95,000
