Under limited supervision, will assist the Economic Development Division with all aspects of the economic development work program, including business retention, expansion, recruitment, research, marketing, and redevelopment. Senior Economic Development Specialists recommend, develop, and schedule project initiatives within the work program, assuming responsibility for planning, developing, creating, and supervising the completion of projects. Assists in programing and deploying resources in an effective and efficient manner, including creating project budgets, timelines, and schedules. Provides input, at the request of Manager/Director, to development and redevelopment projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- As project leader, actively schedules and engages team members to meet deadlines as well as Recommends, develops, and schedules project initiatives within the work/strategic program.
- Actively participates in the training of Economic Development Specialists as applicable and assists the Director in arranging and conducting prospect visits, briefings, tours, and itineraries.
- Serves as a project facilitator for assignments in business retention and recruitment, local, regional, and state development processes using a targeted industry approach.
- Acts as a primary contact for new and expanding businesses with planning, zoning, regulatory, financing, and small business assistance questions, processes, Enterprise Zone information, and program referrals with a minimum of supervision.
- Analyzes economic development opportunities, researches background material, develops alternative approaches and recommends solutions. When necessary, monitors lease and other real estate documents, assuring that deadlines, benchmarks, and other critical elements are met.
- Assists in the maintenance of property and business inventories. Researches and packages responses to inquiries from relocating and expanding businesses, commercial real estate community, and individuals.
- Networks effectively with the commercial real estate and financial communities and represents the City in a professional manner with business and community leaders and City officials.
- Writes Council Policy Reports and Requests for Council Action documents as well as responds to service requests, as necessary and assists the Director with organization and implementation of projects for the Lakewood Reinvestment Authority.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Compensation Type: Salary
Compensation Range: $70,865.60-$91,998.40
